Some PT players type imitating a cognitive disability, what is the meaning behind this? Is there a hidden joke?

Example: > [WXD]Dx: am lern dat 1
Translation: > [WXD]Dx: I'm learning that one.

Yea it's not funny. But I speak multiple languages and I'm used to reading texts literally so there's no way it can be funny. Sounds like an accent (more specifically a speech impediment, or maybe mental retardation).
